Guided visit to the Hostel of the Catholic Monarchs in Santiago de Compostela
Description
The Hostel of the Catholic Monarchs (today National Inn), is a jewel of architectural art created to accommodate pilgrims. It was founded by the Catholic Monarchs in 1499 to house pilgrims finishing the Camino de Santiago and today it is one of the most outstanding monuments in the famous Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela. It is a beautiful Gothic building that has now been converted into a National Tourist Inn. One of the most outstanding elements is its beautiful Plateresque lattice façade dating from the 16th century. Two medallions with effigies of the Catholic Monarchs can be seen on either side of the door. It has four interior courtyards. One of the most outstanding elements is the beautiful chapel of Enrique de Egas.
