Description
Santiago de Compostela, capital of the Autonomous Community of Galicia and a city declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO thanks to its monumental beauty, extraordinary conservation and for being the destination of a thousand-year-old pilgrimage route: the Way of St. James, which since the 9th century has transformed this spot in the "Finis Terrae" into a meeting point for faith and thought in the western world. Santiago de Compostela has been attracting visitors and pilgrims from all over the world for centuries. It is the most cosmopolitan city in Galicia but at the same time a quiet and natural city. In the historic centre we find the Cathedral and the Portico de la Gloria, emblematic squares such as the Obradoiro, the Quintana and O Toural. Dozens of churches, convents and palaces. Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque. Santiago has it all. And also shops, bars, restaurants and a beautiful food market brimming with fresh products, where you can discover the authentic Galician culture and feel how the locals live.
What we are going to do?
We will take a full guided tour of the city of Santiago to get to know everything representative of the historic centre and, of course, the old Plaza de Abastos. Once the first part of the tour is over, we will take a break for an aperitif with Spanish omelette and Galician wine in an emblematic place of the city. We will continue the experience with a guided visit inside the Cathedral of Santiago, a must-see of the city. After the visit, we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch in a traditional Galician restaurant, where we will be delighted with the best of Galician gastronomy (broth, octopus, “raxo”, scallops...). To finish the experience, we will have dessert and coffee in a famous café in the Old Town.
