Excursion to Gaztelugatxe, Mundaka and Gernika from San Sebastian
Description
Urdaibai is an extraordinarily beautiful and varied natural area. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1984, Urdaibai opens its doors to us to enjoy some of the most striking spaces in the Basque Country. Places as impressive as San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Cape Ogoño, Mount Oiz, the marshes of the River Oka or the Oma Valley. A luxurious environment, where the urban centres play a very important role. This fact can be perfectly verified by visiting some of the most picturesque villages in the area, such as Gernika, Bermeo, Elantxobe or Mundaka, among others.
What we are going to do?
We will depart from San Sebastian in a private organised transport to visit different important sites in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. We will learn about the history of the Basque Country by visiting and discovering the tragic bombing of Gernika. Along the way, we will enjoy the spectacular natural beauty from the viewpoint of the hermitage of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (set like Dragonstone in the Game of Thrones series) and views of the famous world-class surfing wave at Mundaka. In Gernika we will stop for lunch before continuing our visit to the Casa de Juntas, the market and the air shelters.
