Full day excursion from San Sebastian: Bilbao, Guggenheim Museum and the coast of Bizkaia

To the north of Vitoria-Gasteiz lies the financial capital of the Basque Country, Bilbao. A city of medieval rural origins that was transformed at the end of the 19th century thanks to industrialisation, completely modifying local customs and architecture. One of the elements that had the greatest impact, both inside and out, on the city's identity since the late 1990s was the construction of the Guggenheim Museum, which has become a symbol of the new Bilbao, one of the most ambitious cultural projects of the 20th century. Bilbao is a city with a unique character, as the combination of the avant-garde with the traditional flavour of its old town, full of charming streets and bars with bars full of "pintxos", shows that gastronomy is lived with passion here. On the coast of Bizkaia and very close to Bilbao, we find San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, listed as a protected biotope and far from any urban centre. An idyllic place linked to the coast by a stone bridge and a flight of 241 steps that has been a place of myths and a films set.
