Guided tour of the Catacombs of Paris
Description
Paris is a romantic and popular city, but it has hidden, enigmatic and even macabre aspects that are not usually known or seen by regular tourists. The Catacombs of Paris are part of the darker side of the city. The inscription (in French) above the entrance gives you an idea of what the experience will be like: "Halt, this is the empire of death". Twenty metres below the surface and spanning almost 300 kilometres, the Catacombs of Paris, dating back to the 18th century, are the final resting place of more than six million Parisians. Explore this unique underground world with an expert guide, who will reveal the history of the catacombs and the legends of those who rest in peace here, sheltered from the plagues, revolutions and wars they may have endured.
