Description
Ourense is the city of water. Eight bridges cross the river Minho, which was a gold mine in Roman times. Ourense has an original sloping Praza Maior, and a historic centre rich in churches and chapels. The Portico del Paradiso of the cathedral still retains its original polychrome decoration.
What we are going to do?
Our tour starts in the Main Square of Ourense, where we will talk about the Roman origins of the city and its growth to become the third most populated city in Galicia. We will see the city's Mercado de Abastos to learn a little more about Galician gastronomy. We will continue the tour talking about Las Burgas, one of the most important monuments of the city and that will allow us to know some of the peculiarities that surround it. Of course, in the visit we will also explore the Cathedral of Ourense, the surrounding squares and we will finish in the cobbled streets of the old town.
