Description
Menorca is an island with traditional roots completely linked to life in the countryside. Despite the fact that in recent years the island has developed around tourism, livestock production continues to be one of the main drivers of its economy and the basis of its culture and its most familiar and historical traditions. With this experience you will have the opportunity to discover a part of this culture by visiting a traditional Menorcan family livestock farm. Here you will learn about the daily life in the countryside in Menorca as well as all the secrets about the production of the typical P.D.O. Mahon-Menorca cheese, a cheese that, with its flavours and textures, speaks of the most authentic culture and customs of the island of Menorca.
What we are going to do?
We will visit a traditional family livestock farm in Menorca. We will start the experience with a guided tour of the farm lasting 30-45 minutes in which we will visit all the facilities of the farm and discover where the artisan cheese is made, how it is made and under what conditions it is left to cure. We will also meet the animals that live there: the calves, the pigs, the sheep, the rabbits and also the most famous of the house, the cows! Finally we will finish the experience with a generous tasting of Km.0 products based on cheeses, sausages, jams and "pastissets" (typical Minorcan sweets) accompanied by a glass of wine and/or a beer, all of them artisan and local products of the island.
