Guided visit to a cheese factory with tasting of local products from Menorca
Description
The Subaida estate has belonged to the same family for more than 6 generations. A farm in the heart of Menorca, closely linked to the production of cheese since 1930, when Don Pedro Montañés, owner of the farm at the time, revolutionised the agricultural sector in Menorca by founding the famous cheese brand "El Caserío". Of Arab origin, with English influence and with a marked Mediterranean spirit, this is the Subaida estate. A mid-19th century Gregorian-style building steeped in history. A farm where time seems to have stood still and which keeps alive the cheese-making tradition of its ancestors.
What we are going to do?
We will discover the flavour of rural Menorca with a one-hour guided tour, in which we will get to know the facilities, the farm animals, the dairy and the milking parlour of the Subaida Cheese farm. During the visit, we will live the experience of giving a bottle to a calf and we will also learn how a piece of Mahón-Menorca D.O. cheese is made and matured in the traditional way. We will finish with a tasting of the farm's products: three varieties of cheese (semi-cured, cured and aged), sobrasada, "carn i xulla" (typical island sausage), "carquinyols" (almond sweets), accompanied by bread, wine and water.
What's included?

Tasting of artisan products (cheese, sausages/cold meat, sweets, bread, wine and water).
