Cycling route from Punta Prima through the southeast of Menorca
Description
The tour starts in Punta Prima, on the same route of the famous Camí de Cavalls GR-223, a beautiful path that allows you to go all the way around the island along the coast, crossing each of its hidden coves, through ravines, forests and fields. The Camí de Cavalls (Horse Trail) is so called because of the constant movement of British soldiers on horseback who guarded the coast during the English domination of the island. We will travel along the coast of the island and visit villages such as Biniancolla, a small coastal village where the locals have been converting the boat garages into summer cottages, but preserving the charm of the place. We will then head towards Binibeca, where we will visit the old fishing village and the beach, and Sant Lluís, a village of French origin, built during the 7 years in which France dominated the island, where we will be able to visit (only in high season) one of the three windmills, recently restored and converted into an ethnological museum. We will return along another inland track to Punta Prima, but not before visiting the rural villages of Es Pou Nou and Consell, walking through their narrow streets lined with beautiful gardens and traditional cottages, all painted white, with tiny windows facing north, to protect them from the north wind.
