Entrance to the Pompidou Centre in Malaga
Popularly known as "The Cube", the Malaga headquarters of the Georges Pompidou National Centre of Art and Culture in Paris is located in the always lively port of the Mediterranean city. Its permanent exhibition houses almost 90 works from the 20th and 21st centuries, making it a cultural reference point for the city. The Centre Pompidou in Malaga, the official name of this museum opened in 2015, houses an extraordinary display of modern and contemporary art. The permanent exhibition: from Miró to Barceló, a century of Spanish art. Cubism, surrealism, figuration, abstraction, painting, sculpture, film, video... In the entire history of art in the 20th and 21st centuries there is no period or field that has not been dominated by Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel. This chronological journey through a century of Spanish art shows that the generation of contemporary artists has kept the spirit of the avant-garde alive with extraordinary energy.
