Entrance to Picasso's birth home Museum in Malaga
Description
The artist who brought cubism to its greatest splendour was born on 25 October 1881 in a house located in the Plaza de la Merced in Malaga. The building, refurbished many decades later, houses the Picasso Birthplace Museum. He spent the first ten years of his life here, until in October 1891 the family moved to La Coruña and later to Barcelona. The influence of his native city, however, was profound and persistent in his memories, in his personality and in his work. The successive rooms of the Museum offer a thematic tour that highlights Pablo Picasso's family, social and cultural links with Malaga. It also has a temporary exhibition hall, which offers the spectator other approaches to the figure of Picasso and his artistic and cultural context. At the same time, they are an opportunity to show pieces from the collection that have no place in the Casa Natal, signed by Picasso and more than 200 different artists.
