Private tour of Madrid's century-old taverns
Description
With the oldest restaurant in the world and an unparalleled tradition in the world of bars, Madrid is undoubtedly a city that you should also get to know from its most illustrious taverns and restaurants. With this guided tour you will have the privilege of knowing, entering and tasting some of the dishes of the most historic taverns in the city of Madrid. Some have seen kings, writers and artists eat and drink, while others have seen the lower classes. Among them all, we will discover the most deeply-rooted customs of the city, its anecdotes, the way of life of the people and the countless stories that have seen its walls. Lhardy (1839), famous for being the place where Madrid's high aristocracy went, including kings, but also artists, writers and intellectuals. Casa Labra (1860), of a very popular character, where people have been enjoying its tapas and beers at good prices for centuries. Posada del Peine (1610), even though it is not a tavern, it will make us understand many things about popular history and the difference between inns and taverns. Sobrino de Botin, the oldest restaurant in the world (recognised by Guinness World Record) and an institution in Madrid. Malacatin (1895), one of the most traditional taverns with the most personality in the capital. Antonio Sanchez, known as La Taberna de los Tres Siglos, founded by a bullfighter in 1884, but on the site of an earlier tavern dating back to 1787.
