Description
The heart of gastronomy and tapas is not in the centre of Madrid but on the eastern edge of the Retiro Park. This neighbourhood boasts the best tapas, the widest range of wines and the most innovative cuisine per square metre in the whole of Madrid. This is thanks to the hand of restless chefs who land in this neighbourhood to set up their gastrotabernas (avant-garde and creative bars, creative cuisine boutiques, delicatessen taverns) tired of working for others, where each dish surprises on its own. A neighbourhood with such a high level of quality in its gastronomy that it has attracted not only locals but also personalities such as the Spanish Royal Family, the former American First Lady (Michelle Obama) and national and international actors of all kinds such as Harrison Ford.
What we are going to do?
We will take a guided tour of the Retiro district and visit 4 gastro-taverns with a lot of fame and history. Trendy and avant-garde restaurants (not franchises, most of these establishments appear in the Michelin Guide). In each of these establishments we will be able to taste their specialities in the form of tapas and we will accompany them with a drink. The guide will explain the secrets of the local gastronomy and the different wines of the region. We will eat and drink at leisure, tasting a wide variety of gourmet dishes, many of them seasonal classics. We will also have a tasting of selected wines from various regions of Spain.
