Dolphin watching on Lobos Island
Description
Halfway between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura we find a small treasure that captivates everyone who discovers it: the Isla de Lobos, a real jewel of nature, a small islet (the surface area is less than five square kilometres) of volcanic origin with a beauty and natural wealth of incalculable value. It is so named because in the past it was inhabited by monk seals, a species currently in danger of extinction, also known as sea lions. The entire island is protected as the Islote de Lobos Natural Park, as its land, with its beautiful beaches and coastline, is home to more than a hundred species of plants, unique birds and a wide range of marine species.
What we are going to do?
The experience starts with the pick-up at the hotel and at different meeting points in Lanzarote in an air-conditioned bus. We will travel to the marina of Puerto del Carmen, where we will board the Biosfera Jet, a fun speedboat. Here we will start the 1.5 hour trip to Lobos Island along the dolphin route where different species of marine mammals such as the common dolphin, spotted dolphin, etc. can be observed regularly while enjoying the magnificent views of the coast of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. After disembarking in Lobos, we will enjoy 2 and a half hours of free time for different activities, such as approaching the small fishing village and swimming or snorkelling in its spectacular natural pools; visiting the visitor centre and learning about its flora, fauna and history; taking a hiking route to the volcano or the lighthouse of Martiño; or simply relaxing on the paradisiacal beach of La Concha. We will be able to enjoy the picnic lunch that is included in the excursion: sandwich, small sandwich, gazpacho, yoghurt, 1 water, 1 beer and 1 juice. At around 14h we will board the boat again to head back to Puerto del Carmen.
