Description
The Canary Islands have a very rich and varied marine ecosystem. Each island has, in addition to its common species, its own particular fauna due to the marine currents and its particular geographical and environmental characteristics. The marine species of Lanzarote are especially peculiar compared to the rest of the islands of the Canary archipelago, due to its position closer to the African continent and the active protection of its habitat. The coasts of Lanzarote are home to Moorish crabs, rock crabs, blackfoot limpets and burgaos (another species of mollusc). In the sea and at different depths, the marine life shows its diversity. Mullet, loggerhead sea turtles, mackerel, cuttlefish, trumpet fish, seahorses, whelks, common dolphins, angel sharks, etc. There are also records of at least 29 species of cetaceans, including dolphins, beaked whales, pilot whales, sperm whales and fin whales that live or migrate through Lanzarote's waters.
What we are going to do?
We will enjoy a 1.5 hour trip aboard a speedboat along the west coast of the island of Lanzarote. We will depart from the Marina of Puerto del Carmen and once in the open sea, the crew starts searching for dolphins, whales and any other marine fauna, using binoculars and doing their best with their experienced eyes. During the trip, we will be given detailed information about the species of cetaceans we will be able to spot, as well as other technical and historical information that will ensure a complete and unique experience. We will enjoy the amazing views of the coast of Lanzarote and we will be able to relax with a swim in the crystal clear waters.
