Visit 3 art works in Baños de la Encina, Jaén
Description
Baños de la Encina is located in Sierra Morena, next to the Rumblar reservoir in the province of Jaén. It has a historic quarter with many monumental buildings and one of the most impressive caliphal castles in Spain: the Castle of Burgalimar, which was declared a National Monument for its historical and artistic value. We will also find the Church of San Mateo, a true work of art with a Gothic bell tower and Renaissance finishes, an 18th century baptismal font, a choir and a stately balcony that run along the nave and, above all, its most important element: the tabernacle, a jewel of the province's sacred art. Finally, we can discover the Baroque chapel, the Ermita del Cristo del Llano, a sober building with a single nave and a 17th century bell tower. What is most surprising is its camarín tower, the pinnacle of Andalusian Baroque. Of Granada influence, it is related to the most expressive baroque of the Cordovan subbetica.
