Jet-ski route on the Guadiana River between Spain and Portugal
Description
Among the most unusual and fascinating places on the coast of Huelva and the entire peninsular coastline we find the Marismas de Isla Cristina Natural Park, a complex of rivers and mouths, marshes, salt marshes, forests and nooks and crannies where the Andalusian land merges with the Atlantic Ocean creating a sensational environment that you should definitely visit on your holidays and getaways in Huelva. The Isla Cristina Marshes are located on the Costa de la Luz in Huelva, very close to the border with the Algarve in Portugal, with the mouth of the river Carreras as a reference point, and encompassing a natural area of great ecological and tourist attraction that extends into the municipalities of Isla Cristina and Ayamonte, in an environment that was declared a Natural Site in 1989. The Guadiana River, in its last stretch, gives us the opportunity to follow it and cross between two countries in an absolutely natural way. A border river that unites like no other a shared history, a common culture and a gastronomy that merges and is enriched in the villages along its course.
What we are going to do?
We will do a 2 hours jet-ski excursion. A great adventure between two countries, Spain and Portugal. We will depart from the Isla Canela Marina Base Port, in the natural setting of Punta del Moral. Accompanied by a qualified instructor, we will set course for the open sea and, after sailing along the coast of Isla Canela, we will take a refreshing swim in the fine sand islands. We will enter the Spanish-Portuguese river border along the Guadiana River. We will pass between Villareal de San Antonio, with its peculiar Pombaline architecture, and Ayamonte. After the towns of Gerreiros do Rio and Foz de Odeleite, Alcoutim and Sanlúcar del Guadiana will appear. On the way back, we will sail at maximum power through the calm waters of the Guadiana, and we will enter the La Canela channel. After an entertaining navigation through the marshes, Isla Cristina and our final point, the Isla Canela Marina, will appear.
