Description

The north of Gran Canaria has the wildest and most rugged landscapes on the island. Its coastline is meandered by impressive cliffs that combine with the attractions of the interior, where rugged nature reigns supreme. But, without a doubt, the must-see places in the north are the charming villages. Arucas, first of all, is a small town famous for its large banana plantations and its production of sugar cane, considered "white gold" in past centuries. Another charming village to visit is Firgas, known as the municipality of water because of its 30-metre waterfall fountain located in one of the streets in the centre. Finally, the village of Agaete is the definition of the island of Gran Canaria: fruit trees, coffee plantations, banana plantations, vineyards and tropical fruits.

What we are going to do?

We start the route heading north to visit Arucas, where we will visit the old town and the neo-Gothic church of San Juan Bautista, one of the most emblematic buildings on the island. We will then visit Firgas and Agaete, where an explosion of aromas, flavours and colours will flood our senses. We will make a guided visit to the La Laja estate and its Bodega Los Berrazales (the only coffee producers on the island), a marvellous setting where we will taste their coffee and enjoy a wine tasting. The last stop will be Puerto de Las Nieves, a small fishing village where we will have free time for lunch. Finally, we will return to Las Palmas.
