Description
Like any modern metropolis, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has a lot of history and culture, and the best place to discover it is in the old part of the city, known as the Vegueta quarter. There you will find the Cathedral of Santa Ana, considered one of the main buildings of Catholic worship in the Canary Islands. On the outskirts of the capital is the Bandama Volcano, with a diameter of one kilometre and a depth of 216 metres, it is one of the largest explosion craters in the Canary Islands. Declared a Natural Monument in 1994, from its highest point at 706 metres it offers impressive views over the whole city and its surroundings. Another of the most interesting places outside the city is the Vieira y Clavijo Botanical Garden, created by the hand and imagination of Sventenius and designed for the protection of the Macaronesian flora (Canary Islands, Madeira, Azores and Cape Verde). It is the largest in Spain and the largest in the world in terms of number of species.
What we are going to do?
We will spend a whole day in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and its surroundings, accompanied by a professional local guide who will accompany us at all times. We will visit from the old part of the city to the area of Las Canteras Beach. In addition, we will take a panoramic bus tour that will take us to the impressive Bandama Volcano and the Vieira y Clavijo Botanical Garden. A combination of guided tours and free time will bring us closer to the history of the capital, with time for shopping in the Las Arenas Shopping Centre or a stroll along the city's famous urban beach, next to the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
