Full guided tour of Girona and its monuments
Description
We present you a journey through time in Girona since the foundation of the city. We will walk along the Via Augusta, the Roman, Carolingian and Medieval Walls. We will see the splendour of the medieval period of the city reflected in its monuments: Gothic palaces, exquisite Romanesque monasteries, the Arabic Baths and the Cathedral. In the historic centre of the city, very close to the Cathedral, we will find an important Jewish footprint. The Aljama of Girona (Jewish community) was one of the most important in Spain and a centre of the Kabbalah. The Jewish quarter known as "El Call" is a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets that have remained intact since 1492, the year of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. Leaving El Call we will see the noucentista style house where the architect Rafael Masó, one of the most important architects of the city, was born. We will go to the Rambla to see the famous bridges over the river Onyar, including the one designed by Gustave Eiffel. We will finish the visit in the Plaza Independencia, a meeting place for everyone who visits Girona, with a great atmosphere between restaurants and terraces.
