Boat trip from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote with visit to Timanfaya National Park
Description
If it weren't for the intense blue of the sky, many photos taken in Timanfaya could pass for landscapes from the planet Mars. The volcanoes and untouched lava fields of this 5,000-hectare national park on the west coast of the island of Lanzarote are one of the most picturesque visual spectacles in the Canary Islands. In the vicinity of Timanfaya is La Geria, a place where, despite the island's dry climate, excellent white and sweet wines are produced. La Geria is a conical hole dug in natural layers of volcanic gravel several metres deep, in the centre of which a vine is planted, and on the edge of which a crescent of rocks is placed as protection against the wind. Row after row, this place offers us a unique landscape in the world that helped to justify the declaration of Lanzarote as a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco.
What we are going to do?
We will meet at the port of Corralejo (north of Fuerteventura), where we will board a boat that will take us to the island of Lanzarote. The sailing trip will take approximately 30 minutes. Once in Playa Blanca (Lanzarote), we will board a coach to visit the most important places in the south of the island. First we will visit the Timanfaya National Park, where we will be able to walk through an amazing lunar landscape, among volcanoes and curious geological formations. Then we will head to La Geria, where we will be able to taste a unique Malvasia wine. Then we will visit the Aloe Vera Museum, where we will learn about the different uses of this typical local crop and learn about new natural therapies. Before returning to Fuerteventura, we will enjoy a bus tour along the south coast of Lanzarote where we will find the Green Lake with its majestic cliffs. The tour will end in Playa Blanca, where we will board the boat that will take us back to the port of Corralejo, Fuerteventura.
