Description
Discover the city of Cuenca, one of the most important cities in Castilla-La Mancha. Cuenca stands out for its perfect harmony between nature and architectural space and for its long history, which has left us an important cultural and monumental legacy. In 1996 it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to the excellent preservation of its original urban landscape, its medieval fortress and its rich collection of civil and religious architecture. One of the city's most emblematic and well-known buildings is the Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses). A group of houses perched on the rock ledge above the gorge of the Huécar River that are true jewels of popular Gothic architecture. We can also see other monuments of cultural interest such as the Cathedral, the Carmelite Convent, the Colegio San José, the Barrio del Castillo, the Plaza del Trabuco and the Calle de Calderón de la Barca. All of them perfectly integrated in the wonderful natural landscape that surrounds the city.
