Less than 10 kilometres from Cordoba lies one of the most important sites in Europe, the palatine city of Medina Azahara, built on the orders of Caliph Abderraman III in the 10th century. More than 15,000 people lived there, and it was famous for its enormous luxury, its careful planning and its beautiful gardens.
What we are going to do?
We will leave Cordoba for Medina Azahara. Once there, we will tour the site, visiting the upper terrace, where some of the Umayyad caliphs lived, and the middle terrace, where we will find palaces, service areas and power representation scenarios such as the eastern portico. Finally, we will visit the famous Visitor Reception Centre.
