Excursion to Culla and visit to the Maestrazgo Mining Park, in Castellon

Description

With this excursion we will visit the Maestrazgo Mining Park, located 3 km from the town of La Torre d'En Besora and 8 km from Culla. The park is located at an altitude of 800 metres, from where you can see a large part of the Alto Maestrazgo region, a landscape that leaves no one indifferent. The visit lasts approximately 2 hours and consists of two mines: La Victoria and La Esperanza. At the end of the tour, we will head towards Culla to follow the Temple Route. You will be able to enjoy a perfect blend of nature and history. Walking through the old town, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, you will find buildings steeped in history and narrow streets full of traditions, the result of the many cultures that settled here and left their mark. The ruins of the 11th century Muslim castle, the 13th century Granero del Comendador, converted into a prison during the Carlist Wars, and the Antiguo Hospital, the site of a foundation dating back to the 13th century. During the guided tour you will discover why Culla was longed for and conquered by so many civilisations that gave it its identity and history: prehistoric, Muslim and Templar.
