Description
The Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat is a Benedictine abbey located on the mountain of Montserrat. It has become a point of pilgrimage for believers as it is home to the Virgin of Montserrat, popularly known as the Moreneta, who is the patron saint of Catalonia. It was founded in the 10th century and is still in operation today with more than 70 monks. The horseback ride through the Natural Park offers breathtaking views of Montserrat. All this while enjoying the freedom and tranquillity of the countryside.
What we are going to do?
Half day excursion to Montserrat with a visit to the Natural Park, the monastery and the Basilica of Santa Maria. We will start our experience in Barcelona, from where we will leave in private transport to Montserrat. We will ride up the mountain until we reach the ranch to start our horseback riding route. First we will receive some instructions on how to ride a horse and we will start the excursion. Once finished, we will go to Montserrat, we will make a cultural visit to the monastery and the Basilica of Santa Maria. Finally, we will enjoy some free time and head back to Barcelona.
