Tickets for the Fundación Antoni Tàpies
Description
Don't miss one of the most interesting modern and contemporary art museums in Barcelona. Tàpies' early work was influenced by artists such as Paul Klee and Joan Miró. He was soon attracted by the expressiveness of materials, an interest that translated into canvases of intense texture and great communicative possibilities. Tàpies' iconographic language has resulted in a diversified plastic creation that is admired all over the world. The Foundation's modernist, industrial-style building is also a work of art: it was built at the end of the 19th century by the Catalan architect Lluís Domenech i Montaner, a pioneer of modernist architecture. It was the headquarters of an important former publishing house, the Montaner y Simón publishing house, and is located very close to Passeig de Gràcia and Gaudí's Casa Batlló. In 1984, Tàpies himself decided to create the Foundation to promote the study and knowledge of modern and contemporary art.
