Self-guided visit to the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona
Description
Step inside one of the greatest architectural miracles: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Palau de la Música Catalana. A Modernista jewel, a symbolic centre of the city and the country, and a temple of music. On a visit to the building, designed by one of the greatest representatives of Catalan Modernisme, Lluis Domènech i Montaner, you can enjoy the beauty of the emblematic stairs leading to the hall, the Modernista encyclopaedia (the Sala Millet), the spectacle of light, shape and colour offered by the theatre's stalls, and you can even go up to the very stage where many music legends have made history. The central metal structure, covered in glass, plays with the light of the magnificent building, turning it into a magical musical box that combines all the applied arts: sculpture, mosaics, stained glass and wrought iron.
